Monday Menu Planning 6/16

Welcome to Sharing My Two Cents. If this is your first visit please read about this blog. You can keep updated by subscribing to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Yay! Hubby is not traveling this week so we are back to a normal menu and schedule. I’m going to try out some new recipes I found via Being Frugal. Organic meat is expensive so I’m trying to work in more meatless meals each week.
This weeks Meal Plan:
Monday - Crockpot Cream Cheese Chicken, pasta, salad
Tuesday- Seven Layer Tortilla Pie, corn
Wednesday - Leftovers/Breakfast dinner or Eat Out (possible day trip to the beach)
Thursday - Chicken Lasagna, Green Beans
Friday - Homemade pizza, carrot sticks
Saturday- Bean Quesadillas, cucumber sticks
Sunday - Frittata, French Bread (homemade), salad

A Little About Me

I'm a busy mom of three boys. Not a financial expert by any means, but I am pretty good at couponing and making a dollar stretch farther.

Getting Started

Ok. So you are new to couponing? Don't despair. Help is on the way. Check here soon for links to my best beginner articles.

Diapers and More for a $14.38 PROFIT- A Rite-Aid Trip

It’s been a long time since I set foot in a Rite-Aid. Despite my serious couponing trips to CVS, Walgreens and Harris Teeter I’ve never done the deals in the Rite-Aid Single Check Rebate program before.

Here’s how I was able to maximize my trip. I had a prescription that needed to be refilled and a coupon for a $30 gift when I transferred a prescription to Rite-Aid. I transferred mine from CVS (sorry CVS! I’ll transfer back when you send me a good coupon) and paid my $5 co-pay using my husband’s FSA Visa. Every paycheck tax-free money is deposited onto the card for medical expenses.

Now I had a $30 gift card to use just for transferring my prescription. Yippea!Rite-Aid

Here’s what I got:
2 Pampers jumbo diapers 2 x 11.49
1 Rite-Aid antacid tablets $3.49
1 Soothing Care Monistat Powder Gel $4.99
1 Tums Quikpak $3.99

Used the following coupons:
$2.25 Tums printable coupon
$3.00 Monistat coupon
$2.00/2 Pampers coupon
Total $30.59
Used $30.00 gift card and paid $.59 cash

Will get back the following refunds: Tums Quickpak
Monistat Rite-AID SCR $4.99
Tums Quikpak Rite-Aid SCR $3.99
Pampers Rite-Aid SCR $2.00
Tums Quikpak Manufacturer Rebate $3.99

for a TOTAL PROFIT of $14.38

Now, some of you many be wondering how I can receive 2 rebates for the Tums Quikpak? Well, the Rite-Aid Single Check Rebate is entered online. After I’m done using the information from my receipt to enter the rebate online, I can mail off the receipt for the Tums Manufacturer rebate. I made a BIG profit just from purchasing the Tums Quikpack. Let’s take a look.

Tums Quikpak $3.99
- $2.25 coupon
= $1.74 total cost (but used my gift card to purchase)
will get back 2 $3.99 rebates (Rite-Aid SCR and Manufacturer rebate)
Not taking into account that the $1.74 total cost was paid with my gift card the profit for the Tums was $6.34.

I think my first trip to Rite-Aid went pretty well. Anyone else use the Rite-Aid Single Check Rebate program to score some good deals?

p.s. If anyone is wondering about all the TUMS and antacids I bought let me just say- I’m pregnant and one little bite of chocolate or tomato sauce gives me heartburn. I try to avoid those things, but a girl has to have some chocolate every once in a while :) and I can’t stay from Italian foods the entire pregnancy.
