What Do You Use Your Food Processor For?

My sweet sweet husband got me a food processor for my birthday. He was actually nervous to give it to me; he thought I would be upset because it’s a domestic type item. What?! No way, I LOVE it! I love to cook and hopefully this will save me a lot of time chopping and cutting in the kitchen.
His grandmother gave him the idea I’m sure. While visiting family during Christmas I whipped up some Panera Broccoli & Cheddar soup. I made a double batch for dinner one night and a triple batch for a Christmas party with the help of my sister in law. Quite a few people asked about my cooking and were shocked when I replied that I didn’t have a food processor.
Here is what he got me.
Do you have one? What do you use it for? Let me know, I’m ready to put this thing to work.

Aw! How nice of your husband
I use mine for making breadcrumbs, chopping small veggies, making dips and sauces. They can be pretty handy.
I remember my mother-in-law bought me one for Christmas when I was first married… probably 25 years ago. At the time I didn’t know what to do with it, thought it was useless taking up valuable counter space. I put it in a yard sale the following summer… a very happy middle-aged lady snatched it up lickety -split with a smile on her face. Now at 46 yrs old… I know why she had a smile on her face. She got an extreme bargain on a very useful kitchen tool. Oh the regrets of our youth… definitely hang on to it. You will use it endlessly, especially if you really love to cook. Hey… just put on Martha Stewart and she’ll give you 101 uses for the thing!
Nice post…
What a lovely gift! I knew he was a keeper. Try pie crust. Let us know what you do with it. Remember your post on putting leftover veggies in the freezer? Your processor could make that task a bit quicker.
Oh, girl, I use mine for salsa (stuff from the garden in the summer is divine!) and to chop up veggies small enough for pot stickers! I think it’s a great gift!
I never, ever use a food processor. Ever.
I’m curious to read what everyone says. Maybe I’ll be inspired to get one.
I had a small one and had to upgrade to a larger one. I love mine! I use it for making cranberry relish, pie dough, chopping up veggies, and the juicer for fresh OJ…yummy!
Hi!!

When I find cheese on sale, I grate all of it with my food processor to save time later.
I don’t have one. But I do have my mammy!
Hey, congratulations! You won my RAK! I posted instructions on my blog so I can get you your prize.
I have not quite figured out how to chop up the veggies without them looking hacked but it is great for soups, we eat a ton in my household. Soup and quiche, soup and salad, soup and bread….I use mine mostly for the soups, homemade tomato sauces. One of my favorites is to process the spinach in the fridge that’s getting too wilty for salads and then I add this to a alfredo sauce to make a yumyum fresh tasting pasta sauce or the sauce for my ‘homemade’ white pizzas.
